Synopsis
The story opens in a London hotel with the formidable matriarch, Khunnai Lumyai, complaining about the uncomfortable and unfamiliar shoes she has been forced to squeeze her feet into on her trip to Europe. Accompanying her is her charming and intelligent adoptive daughter, Nat, a student teacher at the local college.
